SAM/SPG Sustainability Leadership Award

What is the idea behind the award?

It cannot be taken for granted at all that business leaders personally engage in the implementation of sustainability principles in the private industry. The initiators of the SAM/SPG SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP AWARD believe that a strong personal commitment of decision makers in the private sector is crucial to the success of sustainable development in the economy and therefore deserves a special acknowledgement.

The annually conferred SAM/SPG SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP AWARD honors outstanding individuals for extraordinary leadership or pioneering work in developing, implementing and promoting the principles of sustainability within or in cooperation with the private sector.

Initiated in 2001, the award has become the most important acknowledgment for individuals who make sustainability work in business practice.

The Award is worth 50,000 Swiss francs in total and is shared equally between a leader and a pioneer.

The Leader Award honors a manager of a well-reputed international company who has significantly contributed to developing, implementing and promoting sustainability in his or her company (and beyond).

The Pioneer Award acknowledges an outstanding individual working within or in close cooperation with the private sector, whose innovativeness represents a milestone in the promotion and implementation of sustainability principles in the business world.
